Why I started Style Boss…
There are so many stories I can’t wait to share with you but feel it’s important you get the back story to my why? Why I started an Online Stylist training course?
I studied in Sydney Australia and after working with leading stylists and spending 1 year in a fashion cupboard for a fashion magazine I felt ready to level up and move to London to work in a known fashion capital.
I spent what felt like a lifetime trying to get my foot through the door. I reached out to people in Australia that I had worked with but no one could help. It was an emotional journey and at times I questioned if I should just do something else.
Cut a long story short when I finally found the rhythm to working in the real world of fashion; which was everything I did not learn at school! I said out loud into the universe “when I go back to Australia, I am going to set up a course for people travelling to the UK to work in styling to help them avoid all my hardships”. When I was starting out, I searched high and low for answers and all I found was vague responses. I remember telling a stylist I assisted that I wanted to create a book with PR contacts for people starting out and sell it at an affordable price of £20 ( I had not looked further into this and did not calculate the cost of making it a book*) and her response was well thats not how things are done and YOU won’t be the one to change it. 🙅🏻thanks but no thanks for your opinion…maybe I will be the one to change it!
All I wanted was to create a helpful platform that gave people the necessary training and understanding of the world of styling as I’d wished was available to me.
I have now lived in London longer than anticipated and decided to start Style Boss sooner as I had so many aspiring stylists contact me for advice. Some of them have been assisting for big-name publications and still not been taught how to build themselves as a stylist. 😱
Style Boss is a clear and direct training program made with heart. We live in 2020 and fashion is beautiful, artistic and expressive - I want Style Boss to represent all those things. I want to help and see you grow into a Style Boss because it is great and with the right guidance, you can enjoy the destination as well as the journey.
