How to turn procrastination into productivity.

REMINDER; You are not a procrastinator; you just have a habit to procrastinate.

Am I right? The good news is habits can be replaced by new habits.

Did you know the number one factor that stops us from doing what we have to do it stress? So, let’s say you had the intention to follow up on a job application with a phone call. When you sat down to do this your body felt anxious, your mind overwhelmed and so you decided to look at dog photos on Instagram instead. Before you know it, it’s 5 pm, too late to call and you feel like sh*t about not getting something important to you done.

Does this sound familiar?

I encourage you to recognise when you mind drifts off from something you are trying to get done. Recognise when the stress is kicking in and acknowledge it. Be aware that something is causing you stress and accept it. Take a few deep breaths, jump up and down or do some star jumps. This is to interrupt the mind from wondering onto a mindless task and allowing you to refocus on what you need to do.

It takes time to create lasting habits, 66 days to be exact so read on for my tips to help you get the most out of your day. Challenge yourself to commit to this for at least 30 days. I know you can do it.

My top 10 tips to stop procrastinating:

1.  Meditate.

Doing things with a calm mind actually allows us to see things through to the end 5 min in the morning will set the tone for the day!

2. Write down your goals.

Get it out of your head and into your sight. Our mind can make no sense sometimes, writing things down gives us clarity.

3. Highlight your priorities for the day.

A post it note of 3 things is plenty.  Don’t feel the need to exaggerate your priorities.

4. Organise your workspace.

I’ll be honest my desk is a constant mess, but I move everything off when I need to focus and get sh*t done.

5. Plan your day the night before.

This is my favourite thing to do and when I don’t do it, I waste a lot of time trying to work through my priorities.

6. Don’t multitask.

Focus on one task at a time and see it through.

7. Put your phone in another room.

If you are serious about creating a new habit, you got to be willing to give up your biggest distraction! I know you can.

8. Make sure you have sufficient sleep.

Rest works hand in hand with productivity. You need to have maximum 8 hours sleep to preform your best.

9. Give yourself breaks.

Get up and away from your desk, go for a walk, have your lunch and get back to work. Your mind will thank you and your productivity will be effective.

10. Reward yourself for accomplishing the consistency this month!  💕
